Frustrated by a seeming lack of good quality, well arranged pieces for students I started arranging my own versions of famous compositions.
I am working on releasing my book of arrangements for students. I use the software “Sibelius” and love writing music inspired by my students.
My method of arranging follows 3 rules
Must look good (2 or 4 bars per line please!)
Must sound good (Well arranged)
Must be easy to play for beginners (and easy to memorise)

In 2020 we were all forced to go online ☠️
Most of my students agreed to Zoom lessons…
I suddenly became paralysed when I couldn’t just point to the music. I couldn’t just nudge my student and point to a note. Things which were so easy for the last 10 years suddenly became impossible.
“Bar 5.. finger 3, finger 3 on C. No, not that one. Left hand!” - it was infuriating 🤦♂️
…I almost quit teaching Piano!!
Then it hit me.

I took my penchant for solving problems, technology tinkering and applied it to piano teaching.

First I added a second camera
Then I added an onscreen keyboard
And a professional microphone for good quality sound
My iPad became a whiteboard for music; I could scribble, circle things and write notes!
